Dating Seminar Event Recap
(by Phoebe Ng)
Looking back on all of it I am highly grateful for God’s providence. In the planning and preparation stages of this event we suffered from a lot of setbacks, many of our staff members experienced spiritual attacks, volunteer commitment levels and availability appeared to be at an all-time low, and churches that we had expected support from were suddenly and disappointingly no longer able to pledge either their attendance or financial support.
Needless to say, I was quite surprised to witness over 200 students and young adults representing over 10 churches in attendance that night, worshipping with one accord as the praise team from Newborn Church let loose their passion on the stage, filling the room with a rich scent of what can only be described as the movement of the Holy Spirit.
I was also doubly blessed to witness the undying support of many of our team members as they expended themselves for the sake of Christ and the labor that He has called us to. The refreshments, newsletter design, event promotion, testimonies, survey results, message preparation, and so many other things all took extensive coordination and dedication, and although it was last minute, they really pulled through on all their responsibilities; and I am so privileged and proud that I can call these guys friends and family.
In the end, the feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive and the fellowship that occurred was a beautiful thing. Overall, I am confident that seeds of truth were sown into the hearts of all in attendance, whether it was related to the topic of dating, the fellowship of the body, or the simple truth of His love. Probably my only regret – besides the fact that the program went overtime (so sorry guys!) – is that we can’t do this more often.
But all good things in His timing 😉
